Biography

Dr. Coppens completed her BSN from Malone University and worked as an RN in the cardiac ICU at MetroHealth Medical Center. She obtained her Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia at the University of New England. She had worked in various hospitals throughout Maine, serving as a clinical preceptor for SRNAs and as a clinical coordinator for one of the affiliated institutions. She received her Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia Practice and began working as an adjunct faculty member at the University of New England as a research advisor. She began teaching didactic courses in the program, and as a half-time faculty and then as a full-time professor and administrator. Dr. Coppens doctoral scholarly project was published in the AANA Journal in April of 2021. Additionally, she received her Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Florida and obtained a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Certificate. Dr. Coppens works independently at a plastic surgery center and teaches part time.
