- What courses will best prepare me for the program?

Upper level or graduate level courses in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, physics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry will strengthen your foundation and enhance the competitiveness of your application.
- Can I apply for admission if I am enrolled in a degree completion program and scheduled to finish my BSN after the application deadline?

Yes, a registered nurse who is completing the BSN may apply to the program. He or she must provide a current transcript prior to an admission interview and then provide a final official transcript upon completion of the bachelor鈥檚 degree and prior to enrollment. Degree must be conferred.
- How many years of nursing experience should I have to apply?

Applicants are required to be currently working in and have a minimum of one year of intensive care unit/critical care experience to enter the program. Applicants have to be CCRN certified.
- Can I work during the program?

Working during the program is highly discouraged due to the intense nature of the coursework.
- Can I apply with less than 2 years of ICU experience?

Yes, you can apply with at least 1 year of ICU, but you MUST have 2 years by the start of the program. Orientation does not apply.
- Can I apply if I still need to complete or retake the prerequisite courses?

YES! You can still apply and submit your application with pending prerequisites. ALL prerequisites MUST be completed by December 31st. 2026.
- Do I have to have all of my prerequisite coursework done before I apply and submit my application?

NO! You do not have to have all of your prerequisite coursework completed when applying or submitting your application in NursingCAS. After the application deadline of June 1st 2026, we do allow prerequisites to be completed in the Summer and Fall, as long those courses are completed by December 31st 2026. Proof of enrollment may be required.
- Do I have to take my prerequisite courses at AHU?

NO! You do not have to take Statistics or Chemistry at AHU. Those prerequisite courses can be taken at any regionally accredited college or university. The Statistics course must be equivalent to AHU. Check here to confirm equivalency.
- When must I complete my application?

NursingCAS opens December 1st,2025. All required documents must be submitted and uploaded to NursingCAS by the June 1st, 2026 deadline. Submitting 2-4 weeks before the deadline is encouraged, to allow NursingCAS to complete all of its record keeping timely. (plan earlier, rather than later).
- How will I know if I have been granted an interview?

Invitations to interview will be sent to the email address that you鈥檝e disclosed to NursingCAS. Completion of our admission process does not guarantee an interview.
- What is the average GPA for the program?
